First responders in Yonkers responded to the area of 24 Caryl Avenue on Monday, March 14, when there was a reported blaze in the seven-story building.

Smoke could be seen billowing from the upper-story windows as multiple fire crews responded to the building with several aerial ladder trucks to douse the flames.

As the fire continued to rage, a third alarm was called for at approximately 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon, with a fourth shortly before 3:15 p.m., according to reports.

It is unclear what caused the fire.

The Yonkers School District issued an alert on Monday afternoon advising that the fire is causing school bus drops in the area to be re-routed to School 13 on McLean Avenue, where parents can pick up their children.
